What is love ?
Most times we say we love someone but do we really understand what love is ?
How many times are we willing to give our all and not expect anything back ? Why do we often think that life is all about give and take , having the mentality that when I let go of something to people, I should get something back from the same group of people , perhaps something can be your love to them .
Why do we go into relationships , friendships wanting others to be the ones who put in most of the effort , trying to always satisfy you , always making you happy , but we don’t understand , that love , love is putting others first .
Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they love you back , but always be grateful that it grew in your heart , we most times ignore the ones who show us love from their heart focusing soo much on those who’ve shut us from their lives.
Sometimes , we just have to let go.
The truth is this , God is love , God is love , and love is not self seeking , what does that even mean ? The littlest things show who we truly are, no one can change you my friend , you choose to change . Love is a choice , love is not self -seeking.
I ask myself this , can I switch off the fan just so that the one beside me can feel better even though it’s boiling hot? , can I give up the tv remote even when I’ve been waiting for ages to watch this movie , match , episode and suddenly someone shows up and wants to change it ?, can I use my little money to make someone I don’t know happy , even though I waited all day to get my favourite meal or cloth , just to find out that someone needs it ?, can I honestly wake up from my sleep after a long day just to call someone who we’ve just not had a fun relationship with , can I ?
Can I love someone despite their flaws , when I mean flaws , I mean the things I easily get angered about ?
We go round saying I love you , so I ask again , do you know what love is ? , do you know that love says no to hatred , says no to arrogance , says no to unforgivness , says no to lies , says no to arrogance , says no to pride, says no to anger , love says no to Self !
Love always puts others first .
And so , I challenge you this day , go out , like a dove , fly high , glow , be radiant , show others that love, love ,is beautiful , is kind , is happy , Is life !
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love .But the greatest of these is love -1corinthians 13:13
