Dear Royalty,
I genuinely believe this is a significant topic to discuss within the body of Christ. Often, we talk about ‘waiting on God,’ and to be honest, it can be a painful season, but at least you have HOPE. Waiting rightly on Him will yield a positive result. Though it tarries, wait; it will come. Now, we know God is not a man and does not lie; it will come to pass.
But what do you do, and how do you handle it when God explicitly says NO! I mean there is no HOPE with this one, is there?😂
Let me give you an example or two you might relate to. You’ve always wanted a job, so you apply to different organisations and get about four offers. One has an amazing salary plus benefits—a no-brainer, right? Take the one with the highest salary and better benefits. Imagine bringing yourself to God and asking which offer to accept, and He tells you not to go for the ‘seemingly best offer.’
Before I give the second example, I just want to be raw and tell you the exact words that came from my mouth the last time I asked God about something and He told me no. I literally said to myself, ‘Why did I ask? 😭 Wouldn’t it be better if I didn’t ask and just went ahead? At least what you don’t know won’t hold you accountable. Now that I know the right thing to do, if I don’t do it, that’s where the problem is.’ I was upset with myself for asking God what to do—can you imagine that? 😂
I guess I expected a yes from Him, but He gave me a hard no. This time, it was quick! I didn’t need to wait for months to get a response from Him. I can categorically tell you, the no’s I’ve gotten from God are perhaps the fastest answers to my requests from Him. 😂
Can you relate? How about when you receive many suitors or have many ladies you can approach? Nothing wrong with them—they’re amazing, good friends. Imagine you not being picky and deciding to ask your Father, ‘How about this person?’ and God says NO! 😂
I don’t know about you, but a no from God can sometimes be quite heartbreaking. Now, what do you do?
I can’t claim to know it all, but this is what I would say:
- If it seems like God is coming too late, He is coming in a big way – Funke Felix Adejumo.
- Your obedience to God’s yes is as important as your obedience to God’s no.
- You don’t have to try to see if God will change His mind from no to yes (I caught you there, didn’t I?). You know why? There’s a 100 percent chance the ‘no’ is final and is best for you. Trying to change His mind will get you into a cycle of pain and trauma you are not ready for.
- It is hard to deal with getting a no from God, but it is harder recovering from the impact of your disobedience if you go ahead with what God negated you from doing.
- You do not have to see how it will play out: it is also FAITH to trust His no and not try to make things work in your favour.
This is my encouragement: God has the best for you, a gift for you—wait for it, wait for it.

Now, I just want to chip this in: waiting doesn’t equate to laziness or ignorance. Waiting is an action word. So, while you wait, put your brain, heart, and zeal to work. Because when He brings your answer, YOU WANT TO BE READY.
Your sister,
Sharon Paulina Boye
